For guests coming to Blair House Inn via Maine we still recommend taking the Ferry Point bridge located in downtown Calais and St. Stephen. The downtown route is only 5.6 km to Blair House Inn compared to 11.8 km via the new (third) bridge over the St. Croix river. (more…)

The long-awaited new bridge over the St. Croix river at St. Stephen, New Brunswick and Calais, Maine opens today at 10:00 a.m. (Atlantic time). This is the first new border crossing between Canada and the United States in over 60 years. The two existing bridges will remain open (more…)

St. Stephen town council voted recently to remove the $2. daily fee previously charged for using the Town’s two outdoor public swimming pools. Now residents and visitors alike can cool-off for free this Summer! (more…)

It is a sure sign that Spring has arrived in Charlotte County when Scoops ice-cream parlour opens for the season just down the street from Blair House in St. Stephen. A wide selection of flavours at a great price. Next week in the St. George area on highway Route #1 the reknowned Ozzie’s Lunch take-out will also re-open for the Summer season. Mmmmm.

The St. Andrews-by-the-Sea Garden Club’s annual “Seaside Gardens” tour will be held this year on Saturday, July 19th from noon to 5:00 p.m. The self-guided tour offers an opportunity to visit thirteen gardens in St. Andrews with a strawberry shortcake reception at Passamaquoddy Lodge from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. (more…)

The 9th season of the St. Stephen Musical Concert series will again be held every Thursday evening, some Sundays and holiday Mondays during the Summer months. The musicians, singers and dancers perform in the St. Stephen town square located downtown between the Provincial Information Centre and the library. Rain location is in the Border arena. Downtown St. Stephen’s Chocolate Museum located in the old Ganong chocolate factory recently announced plans for expansion to it’s displays and services offered to visitors. One of the major changes is the move of all the ‘hand-dipping’ chocolate production from the existing Ganong factory on Chocolate Drive back to the old factory on Milltown Boulevard. In the future, visitors will be able to watch the skilled hand-dippers creating the chocolates then buy them in the museum and store next door. Funding and assistance for the new expansion has come from federal, provincial and municipal governments and Ganong Brothers Ltd. (more…)
