I don’t remember the last time that school was cancelled in April due to a snow storm. But that’s what happened Thursday, April 5th. Here in southwestern New Brunswick the snow didn’t start falling until dawn but when it came it really came down heavily. Big heavy snow flakes. But mild. The temperature was hovering just below the freezing mark and the forecast called for it to change to rain later on.
It was still snowing when I went out at noon-time to clear the driveways with the snowblower. Two-and-a-half hours later I had just finished the driveways when the snow turned to a light drizzle. Then the snow became too heavy for the snowblower to ‘throw’. Luckily the rain only lasted a short while. The snow is still lying on the ground today although the sunnier Spring days and milder weather are slowly melting it away.
The snowstorm gave local children a five-day Easter weekend that included Good Friday and Easter Monday. I didn’t hear any of them complaining.
