Glad to see a new bridge is going ahead to alleviate the conjestion, especially for traffic entering the US from the Main street St.Stephen, NB. We come from Rochester,NY and go through the States and use Rt 9/1 to Calais to cross into Canada, and are planning for the next two years to come back the same way, vs. going through Montreal, as Rte 40 westbound, from just outside the LaFountain Tunnel, is under major construction, possibly till Oct. 2009; and the Rt 25 detour turns into a city street and it's too hard to follow the signs in french to get to the RT440 back to the Rt 15 to Rt40 Westbound.

[...] Construction is expected to begin in 2008 on a second bridge connecting the two communities. The new bridge, currently scheduled to open in 2009, will serve primarily commercial [[trucking]] traffic, while the current bridge will remain in use for passenger vehicles <ref>[http://www.blairheritageinn.com/wp/2007/02/27/us-gives-go-ahead-to-third-bridge/ "U.S. gives go ahead to third bridge"], ”St. Croix Courier”, [[September 26]], [[2006]].</ref>.
