Canadian Affair commences first ever UK flight to New Brunswick, Canada

Canadian Affair, the UK’s largest tour operator to Canada, will next week commence the first ever direct service to Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

The direct weekly service from London Gatwick, which commences on Tuesday 6th May, will give travellers greater access not only to New Brunswick, but also the three Atlantic Coast Provinces of Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Nova Scotia.  Read the full story at Canadian Affair’s website.

Free swimming in St. Stephen this Summer

Groundbreaking ceremony to start new U.S. border inspection building

On Saturday, April 19th a ceremony was held to officially commence construction of a new U.S. Land Port of Entry for Calais, Maine. The new $48.3 million facility will be built next to the new third bridge on the outskirt of Calais. The new international bridge across the St. Croix river is already under-construction and should be completed later this Fall. The new U.S. building is expected to be completed by November 2009. Civic Centre receives major donation from former resident

The Charlotte County Civic Centre project just received a major donation from a former resident of St. Stephen-Milltown now working in Vancouver, B.C.  Robert Quartermain, president, Silver Standard Resources gave $172,724. towards the proposed $15 million regional project. Robert Quartermain is quoted as saying ” I believe that I am who I am today due in large part to the life and opportunities I enjoyed in my early years growing up and learning about life in St. Stephen. Civic Centre fundraising campaign officially launched

The Charlotte County Civic Centre committee officially launched the $3.5 million fundraising campaign yesterday here in St. Stephen. The campaign’s honorary co-chairpersons are David and Diane Ganong. They announced that $1.2 million has already been raised from large corporate and private donations towards the $15 million community project. A sure sign that Spring has arrived

It is a sure sign that Spring has arrived in Charlotte County when Scoops ice-cream parlour opens for the season just down the street from Blair House in St. Stephen. A wide selection of flavours at a great price. Next week in the St. George area on highway Route #1 the reknowned Ozzie’s Lunch take-out will also re-open for the Summer season. Mmmmm.

St. Stephen Musical Concert Series 2008

The 9th season of the St. Stephen Musical Concert series will again be held every Thursday evening, some Sundays and holiday Mondays during the Summer months. Chocolate Museum ‘hand-dipping’ expansion

Downtown St. Stephen’s Chocolate Museum located in the old Ganong chocolate factory recently announced plans for expansion to it’s displays and services offered to visitors. One of the major changes is the move of all the ‘hand-dipping’ chocolate production from the existing Ganong factory on Chocolate Drive back to the old factory on Milltown Boulevard. In the future, visitors will be able to watch the skilled hand-dippers creating the chocolates then buy them in the museum and store next door.
